A BUSINESSMAN who battled cancer has high hopes for a fundraising expedition. John McVey, 43, was diagnosed with tongue cancer a little over 12 months ago but thanks to his treatment has made a full recovery John, director of Global Lift Equipment in Flint, has now vowed to raise £25,000 for Cancer Research UK by completing a trek in Peru in May. John explained: ‘Whilst having my treatment I made myself a promise to raise money for research into cancer and to help achieve this I decided to go on a trek in Peru in aid of Cancer Research UK.’ John, of Rhosesmor, is training hard in |

Everyone has been so supportive.’ John has a busy fundraising schedule ahead over the next couple of months: • He will be bag packing at Asda in Queensferry on Saturday, November 4. • There will be Prize Bingo at Rhosesmor village hall on Wednesday, November 15, between 2pm-4pm. • A car treasure hunt is arranged for Sunday, November 19, at 2pm, starting from the Springfield Hotel in Pentre Hall. • Christmas Fair and fundraising event is arranged for Saturday, December 2. between 2pm-4pm at Rhosesmor Village Hall. |
John has also organised a painting competition, with the best painting of the North Wales Police helicopter winning a trip around the police air support base at Rhuddlan.
