Astronaut James Irwin who walked on the moon in 1971 said, “God walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon.” Christmas is about the Creator of the universe arriving on the earth as a baby through the womb of a virgin called Mary. He could do this because nature shows Him to be the Master of all sciences including gynaecology.
Although sensational, this event was not unexpected. Many were awaiting the arrival of this boy called, ‘God with us’. They knew from the Hebrew scrolls that He would have a virgin birth in the town of Bethlehem. Writing about 700BC the prophet Isaiah forecast the virgin birth. And Micah writing about 400BC said His birthplace would be Bethlehem. [ Isaiah 7:14, Micah 5:2 & Luke 2:38 ].
It’s wonderful that during the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, over 300 ancient prophesies were fulfilled. This is conclusive documentary evidence that these prophets were inspired by the timeless God who “inhabits eternity.” Only such a person who dwells outside of time could have enabled them to write down the history of Jesus before it happened! Because God is beyond the boundaries of time He can never be discovered by any of the tools of science which can only operate within time. However His existence is also confirmed by the advanced technology of nature which demands a brilliant source of intelligence. [ Romans 1:20 ]
This Christmas, listen to the following words of God whose human name is Jesus, meaning, “God to the rescue.” “For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy. I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” [ Isaiah 57:15 ] Humbly ask Him to rescue you from the guilt and grip of sin today.
