On Good Friday we remember how Jesus was crucified between two thieves. Both began insulting Him but then suddenly one was pricked by his conscience and rebuked his colleague by saying, “Do you not even fear God? We deserve what we’re getting but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into your kingdom.” Jesus replied, “Assuredly I say to you, Today you will be with me in Paradise!” That day a crook went to heaven! Not through any good works, but through Christ’s good work on the cross. If the hymn ‘Amazing Grace – that saved a wretch like me’ had been composed, that crook would have sung it!
