A poor man named George Müller was born 200 years ago in 1805. He wanted to show in the most explicit way that God answers prayer. He eventually founded an orphanage in Bristol that fed, clothed, housed and educated over 2000 children. No appeals were made for money but the five orphan houses cost £100,000 equivalent to 750,000,000 today. His work still continues through the George Müller foundation telephone 0117 9245001.
Incredibly at the age of 20 Müller was a thief, liar, gambler, drunkard and jail-bird! But a friend invited him to a prayer meeting! There he knelt and rejoiced in the text, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” [1 Timothy 1:15] Immediately he was rescued from a wasted life.
