The recent earthquake reminded me that three of the most sensational events in history were marked by earthquakes. When God gave the 10 commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai the whole mountain quaked and so did Moses, and so should we if we have broken God’s commands! 2000 years later when Jesus died on the cross for our sin the earth quaked and the terrified soldiers said, “Truly this was the son of God!” [Matthew 27:54] Three days later there was an earthquake – the stone rolled away from the tomb and Jesus had conquered death! [Matthew 28] Earthquakes are also one of the signs of the times indicating the second coming of Christ is drawing near. [Matthew 24:7]
