Just before putting down his pen after writing the life of Jesus, the Apostle John concluded with these words, “There are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.” [ See John 21:25 circa AD90 ]
Jesus never wrote a book, but more books have been written about Him than about any other person in history. This is not surprising because Jesus claimed to be God and by His words and deeds He proved that He was.
Jesus never wrote a song, but more songs have been written about Him than about any other person. He became a human being and came down from a world of song into a world of sin so that through His sacrificial death and spectacular resurrection we can be set free from the guilt and grip of sin and given a song in our hearts.
Jesus never performed a selfish miracle. Even when He was hungry and the devil tempted him to turn stones into bread He refused saying, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” [ Matthew 4:4 ] He could have made a miraculous descent from the cross but had He done so He could not have saved us from descending into hell.
During the brief 3½ years of His public life, this solitary figure poured a river of love and compassion into world history. The Bible says, “All things were made by Him.” [ John 1:3 ] As Creator He was not limited by time because He created it! In zero time, the lame walked, the deaf heard and the blind saw. Today, by that same power, He still heals the broken hearts of those who turn from their sin and trust Him as their Saviour.
