Millions are being spent on installing CCTV cameras to help catch crooks and curb anti-social behaviour. However, in the past, when the Bible was read daily by many families, a far cheaper deterrent was installed in thousands of homes. It consisted of a picture frame displaying this Bible text message, “Thou God seest me.” [Genesis 16:13]
When anyone believes this fact it produces, “The fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom.” [Psalm 111v10] This fear is a healthy fear designed to awaken conscience and cause us to turn from our sins to Christ and ask for pardon and power. When we do this we will be like obedient children who love to know their father in Heaven is watching them.
