GOD’S PEACE PLAN

Recently I met a friend who immediately began thanking me for the good advice I gave him 20 years ago! At that time he longed to know whether it was in God’s plan for him to commit himself to being the organist at a certain church. He reminded me of the Bible text I quoted. This led him to become the organist which today he knows was in line with God’s plan.

When I was about 7 years old I remember looking up into my grandfather’s face as he solemnly said, “Son, remember this, God has a plan for every man and he has one for you.” Twelve years later when I surrendered my life to Christ I discovered the Bible verse which helped my organist friend to find and to keep God’s plan for his life, here’s the verse, “Let the peace of God rule in your heart.” [ Colossians 3:15 ] This can also be translated, “Let the peace of God be the umpire in your heart.” If we obey God’s voice in our conscience, this umpire of peace will fill our hearts and minds with peace, but if we disobey we shall lose our peace and become troubled and confused. By taking the pathway of peace we shall discover the will of God and rejoice!

There can be no doubt that God wants us to enjoy His wonderful peace in our hearts and minds. However, this can only come about when we turn away from what’s wrong and believe with all our heart that when Jesus died on the cross and rose again He paid the penalty our sins deserved. This means that when we trust Him, He will set us free from the guilt and grip of sin and fill our hearts and minds with His peace.
