Gordon Brown correctly said that terrorist attacks are evil and Jesus referred to the devil as, the evil one. I knew a couple who were both atheists, but after lodging for a week in the home of a devil worshipper they began to feel a devilish atmosphere. This logically led them to conclude that if there is an evil power, there must be a good one. This caused them to read the Bible and eventually become Christian missionaries!
Some are saying that God is judging Britain, and this may be true, but what is certainly true is that many in Britain have ceased to love and obey God and because of this they are not, resisting the devil but are actually assisting him in his battle against God who is his arch enemy. [ James 4:7 ] By taking sides with Satan, many are strengthening his army of demons and are therefore partly responsible for all evil acts, including terrorism.
Because the devil blinds the eyes of his followers many fail to realise that any bad behaviour helps him to sow the weeds of evil across Britain. Here are some samples of things that fuel the power of Satan:
- Swearing in God’s holy name and using filthy language.
- Not reverencing sex as a beautiful expression of love designed by God, but distorting it into something funny, dirty and crude.
- Jesus said, “The devil is the father of lies” [ John 8:44 ]. Those who tell lies are therefore his children who fight on the side of Satan’s demonic army.
- Thieves, covetous and drunkards will also bring Satan much joy!
Each of us can help to hold back the devil’s floodtide of wickedness across Britain by repenting, turning from our sins and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone can purify and change hearts. Politicians can’t do this!
