SEE YOU AGAIN!

When friends say goodbye they often say, “See you again!” When Jesus was about to leave His disciples and return to heaven He said, “I will come again!” [ John 14:3 ] meaning, “See you again!” His first visit to earth changed history but his second visit will end it!

For centuries, prophets inspired by God, were able to write down the signs that would preceed the first coming of Jesus. For example, “He would be born in Bethlehem.” Today, nearly 2000 years later friends of Jesus are confident that the ‘signs of the times,’ [ Matthew 16:3 ] show that His second coming is not far off. Here are some of the signs.

The Prophet Daniel, famous for his lion’s den experience, forecast that near the end of time, many will run too and fro and knowledge shall increase. [ Daniel 12:6 ] Global air travel by millions has dramatically fulfilled the first part of this prophecy. The increase in knowledge has been dramatic, particularly through the internet.

The Lord Jesus actually gave this vivid description of what the world will be like just before He comes again. He said, “Nation will rise against nation, and there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines, and plagues, (aids?) and fearful sights (9/11?) Nations will stand helpless not knowing which way to turn. The sea and the waves roaring (global warming?)” [ See Luke chapter 21, especially v25 in the New English Bible published 1961. ] Jesus also foretold that the earth will be full of violence as it was before the global flood in the days of Noah. [ See Genesis 6:13 and Matthew 24:37 ].

Friends say, “See you again!” But I remember an angry headmaster saying to me, “I’ll see you again – in my office!” Jesus said, “He who is not with me is against Me.” [ Luke 11:23 ] Make sure you’re on the right side!
