What a sneeky thing it is to move the goalposts! We may get mad when the ball hits the woodwork but we know that without limiting the goal-mouth there would be no pleasure in the game. Similarly in life there are necessary restrictions we must accept in order to achieve goals in the field of morality. Drug abuse or cheating moves the goalposts and robs achievement of its glory.
God promises a great reward to those who obey His rules, but He awards penalties to those who break them. God will never move His posts of justice. Only when I repent and believe that on the woodwork of the cross, Christ died for me, can the penalty be removed.
