John Payne came to England in 1813. He was an actor who also wrote plays including, "CLARI - The Maid of Milan" which was a failure: but in it was a lovely song called, "Home Sweet Home" containing these words,
"To thee I'll return over-burdened with care
The heart's dearest face will smile on me there.
No more from the cottage again will I roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home."
John's story is like the one Jesus told about a wayward son who left a good home but returned a poorer but a wiser man. [Luke chapter 15 verse 11-32].
