On the first Good Friday Jesus hung on the cross for six hours in order to pay the penalty our sins deserved. When He died there was a great earthquake so that some terrified soldiers cried out, “Truly this was the Son of God.” [Matthew 27:54]
Three days later there was another powerful earthquake when three faithful women visited the tomb of Jesus! An angel descended from heaven and rolled back the huge stone from the entrance to the tomb that had been hewn out of the solid rock, and sat upon it. The guards fainted but the women ran to proclaim the best news the world has ever heard – Death has been conquered! [Matthew ch 28]
