Turbulence in the world’s markets is bad news for everybody but this is a good time to remind ourselves that in the long term the stability of any economy depends upon the Christian values of honesty and hard work.
National wealth goes deeper than bank vaults. Its greatest assets are the reserves of godliness in the human heart. What Stocks are there of industriousness, good workmanship, courtesy, reliability and responsibility? What Shares of fairness exist between employer and employee? Does the former pay a just wage and does the latter put in a fair day’s work?
The Bible says, “Happy is the Nation whose God is the Lord’s.” [Psalm 33 verse 12] Nations are happiest when the Lord Jesus Christ reigns in human hearts.
