I’ve been reading the Bible for over 60 years and have no doubt that it is the Word of God, partly because it’s so often ahead of its time. For example it says, “Weep with those who weep.” [Romans 12:15] It’s only recently been discovered that when someone is upset tears release toxins from their body so that after a good cry they feel much better!
The Bible says, “A merry heart does good like a medicine.” [Proverbs 17:22] Hospital patients were often only allowed to have very few visitors but Doctors now recognise that patients tend to get better quicker when they’re cheered up by visitors. 200 years ago when the Vicar of Huddersfield was told he only had 3 months to live. He was made so merry by the thought of seeing Jesus, that he prolonged his life by a further 3 months!
