Dr Luke who was famous for the third gospel, his classical Greek and historical accuracy, wrote no fairy story about an angel appearing to shepherds and saying, “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, for unto you is born this day a Saviour.” [Luke 2:10] Saviour is a beautiful word. A helicopter or a lifeboat can be a saviour but the Lord Jesus can accomplish far greater things. By dying on the cross He can save us from the guilt and grip of sin and through His resurrection from the dead he can give us power over immorality, swearing, lying, stealing and all the demons of hell and take us to heaven.
