Sheep are unique among animals. They don’t attack others, they nibble grass without damaging it, but above all, they follow a shepherd! Goats are similar to sheep but never follow a shepherd, neither is their diet pure. They eat all sorts of rubbish and are noted for their unpleasant smell.
Jesus said that in the final day of judgement He would come to separate the nations like a shepherd divides sheep from goats. The good people like sheep He would put on His right hand but the bad people like goats He would put on the left. Turning to these He said, “Depart from Me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” But to followers of the Good Shepherd on His right He will say, “Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you.”
