As Jesus grew up He was politely questioned by the doctors of the law but later they began to try and find fault in Him. One day they sent spies who pretended to be righteous. They flattered Him and said they knew He had no personal favourites but showed people the true way to God. Then they fired at Him their trick question! “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” Immediately Jesus saw their craftiness and said, “Show me a penny, whose image does it have on it?” They replied, “Caesar’s!” Then He said, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.”
Immediately they knew they couldn’t catch Him out so they fell silent. They had forgotten the AND, and sinned by leaving God out of the picture. [Matthew 22:15-22]
