MIRACLES OF LIFE

My wife and I were married in 1957 and have just celebrated our first daughter’s 50th birthday in January.  In 1963 our second daughter was born.  When she had just had her second birthday she was accidentally scalded and died six days later.  16 months later we adopted a little girl aged 16 months and she is now happily married with two teen-age daughters.   We were so happy to have been able to rescue just one tiny miracle of life.  The birth of a human baby is the greatest and most intricate event in biological history.  Yet millions of these tiny miracles of life are being killed intentionally every day instead of being brought up by godly parents into the knowledge of God.

The world would be so much happier if we all used every means to rescue more children from all nations and then to sow the seed of the word of God in their hearts.  There’s a very wise verse in the Bible which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” [ Proverbs 22:6 ]

Here is some advice for parents from Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus.  [ Ephesians chapters 5 and 6 ]

5:25  Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.

5:24  Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

5:28  So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

6:1,2  Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honour your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

6:4  And you fathers do not provoke your children to wrath.
