The greatest wonder of Christmas

The greatest wonder of Christmas is that God took the form of a man and visited this earth. Astronaut James Irwin who walked on the moon in 1971 said, “God walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon.” This Christmas, millions will be pondering these golden opening words of St. John’s Gospel, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” [ John 1:1-14 ]

A word is the carrier of information, but Jesus is The Word. The Bible says that, “In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” [ Colossians 2:3 ] Before the universe was created the Word had been eternally present before time began! Indeed, “All things were made through Him.” That is, through the information and power He possessed.

Information has no weight because it is neither matter nor energy. If a floppy disc was weighed and then all the information on it deleted it would still weigh the same. All the beautiful design we see in every living thing is because of the wise and intelligent information programmed into every DNA molecule. It follows that because information is not material it cannot have evolved. We can also conclude that the Source and Sender of this information must be supremely intelligent because the density and complexity of the DNA encoded information are billions of times greater than man's technology could ever achieve.

The proof that Jesus was God is seen in the wonderful display of His information and wisdom. He even knew how to enter the womb of a virgin! How to defy gravity and walk on water! How to command wind and waves! How to heal diseases and finally, how to rise from the dead! The evidence is overwhelming!
