The road rager knows he’s above average! His tyre pressures are perfect but his blood pressure is rising. His engine temperature is normal but he’s boiling over. His car’s running smoothly but he’s muttering a running commentary. His clutch isn’t suffering but his self-control has slipped into revenge mode and reversed the instruction in the ‘Maker’s Manual’ which says, “Overcome evil with good.” [ Romans 12:21 ]
Road ragers are not always in cars, they can be found on all the highways of life. They make no allowance for the mistakes of others. Their mouths honk out abuse, their eyes flash with anger and their fists hit the bodywork. The ‘Maker's Manual’ describes them like this: "Destruction and misery are in their ways, and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes." [ Romans 3:10-18 ].
Those who push impatiently through the traffic jams of life mow down God's tender flowers of love, joy and peace. They may never drive a car but they often drive a wedge between themselves and those they love the most. They drop their family down to a low and degrading gear of constant argument and screaming children.
For all who pray for deliverance from the raging storms that sweep across their hearts Jesus Christ offers pardon and power. He alone can help them pass the driving test for the journey of life so that they can cope calmly with all its frustrations. The ‘Maker’s Manual’ tells us that Jesus once calmed the raging sea. [ Mark 4:35-41 ]. This means He can also calm the raging heart. Today He extends this invitation to everyone. “Come to Me … and you will find rest for your souls.” [ Matthew 11:28-30 ] Do a U-turn from your sins and let Jesus take control
