On Easter Sunday millions will be celebrating the resurrection of Christ from the dead after 3 days. This is without any doubt the best news and the most significant event in world history! Many times Jesus had said that He would be crucified but would rise again the third day. It’s interesting that His own followers did not believe this but His enemies did! They therefore made sure that the tomb was sealed and guarded by soldiers in case His disciples stole the body and then pretended that He had risen. After the resurrection these soldiers were bribed to tell a lie and say that His disciples stole the body of Jesus whilst they slept! But if they had slept on duty why weren’t they executed? And if they were asleep how could they have known it was His disciples?!
Jesus was seen alive after His resurrection on many occasions, once by over 500 people! Although He could pass through locked doors He was no ghost. He could eat food, His voice was the same and He invited people to feel His flesh and bones. The grave-clothes were another evidence of His resurrection. They were lying in the same place where the body of Jesus had rested. However, the handkerchief that had been around His head was folded in a place by itself. No grave robbers would ever stop to unwrap the sticky bandages laden with spices and then carefully fold the handkerchief! Without doubt He had risen through the grave clothes and through the solid rock!
Some lawyers have tried to write books to disprove the resurrection but have ended up proving it! Many of the first Christians chose to die rather than to deny that Jesus had risen but the greatest evidence was that He now lived in their hearts!
