THE DIVINE DENTIST

I’m an extractor fan – I love the dentist’s! Where else can you enjoy relaxing in a chair that costs thousands of pounds?! And what a comfort it is to know that through his tender loving care serious toothaches can become history! Sadly many people use God like a dentist, they only run to Him when they’re in distress! This is better than not going at all but we don’t think much about so called friends who only call on us when they need help.

A church poster said, “The Bible fights truth decay”. If we’re not letting the Word of God guide us through life, then the toxins of sin, guilt, fear and worry will seep into our souls and we shall have some headaches and heartaches that God never meant us to endure. If, on the other hand we sensibly start following God’s book of instructions, we shall enjoy the expert care of the Lord Jesus Christ. He can cleanse and fill the decaying parts of our life with His amalgam of pardon, peace and joy. He can straighten what’s crooked and polish up our faces with a sparkling smile!

Because of the sins of Israel God said, “I gave you cleanness of teeth” [ Amos 4:6 ]. This means famine! Today our food stores are full but many are not getting their teeth into the Bible so there is serious spiritual malnutrition. This alarming malady proves the ancient principle taught by Jesus to be true when He said, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” [ Matthew 4:4 ] This lack of a divine diet provided by the Bible, that once made Britain great, is sapping the moral power of conscience. This is producing a sick nation with symptoms raging from anti-social behaviour to serious crime
