The Weakest Link. He was born in enemy occupied country during a tax census. His cradle was a cattle trough and His clothing strips of cloth. He had no formal education and lived in an obscure village. Aged 30 He left home, chose 12 followers and set off on a teaching mission. For over 3 years He was homeless and penniless. Eventually He was sentenced to death by an illegal court even though He was entirely good and innocent. Forsaken by His followers, beaten and mocked by His enemies He did not have a sudden death but died slowly, writhing in agony on a Roman cross.
The Weakest Link? A complete failure? Absolutely not! After His death and burial He came alive again 3 days later exactly as He foretold. He was seen alive by over 500 at one time. He ate food and invited His followers to feel His flesh and bones to prove He was no ghost. He was indeed the mighty God who humbly came to earth in a human body and allowed Himself to be offered up as an atonement for our sins. For those who turn from their sins to Christ, He becomes their strongest link with God. He is the link who brings about an at-one-ment between us and our Father in Heaven. A mediator is a link and the Bible says, “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” [ 1 Timothy 2:5 ]
God will never vote us off as the weakest link so long as we know two things:
1. That I deserve to be punished for my sins.
2. That Jesus paid the penalty I deserve by dying instead of me.
Once we trust Him as our Saviour, we can begin to lay up treasure in the Bank of Heaven!
