‘The God Delusion’ is the title of atheist Richard Dawkins’ latest book. In it he attacks the Bible and the God of the Bible. He also makes sweeping ‘scientific’ statements that are not scientific because they are based upon assumptions and not on accurate observations which must be the basis of all true science.

Currently the biggest threat to Dawkins’ views on evolution comes from an increasing number of scientists worldwide who claim that the natural world contains clear evidence of intelligent design. This is especially true in systems that are irreducibly complex. Clockmakers know that many gear wheels must be skilfully assembled simultaneously otherwise the mechanism will never work. In the natural world there are billions of far more complex systems that could never have evolved by the stumbling step by step fashion of evolution, but must have been assembled quickly and logically. In his book, Dawkins admits that a genuine example of intelligent design would wreck Darwin’s theory of evolution. Actually Darwin himself agreed that this is true when he wrote, “If the human eye could have been formed by natural selection I freely confess that my theory would be absurd in the highest degree!” In the light of our present day breath-taking knowledge of the eye, its irreducible complexity demands the genius of a super intelligence. So why could not this intelligence be the eternal and infinite God?

If the universe was the result of a big bang that usually produces chaos, why does every single thing obey the orderly laws of gravity, chemistry, physics, logic, mathematics etc? Darwin’s theory only applies to the evolution of matter but laws are not matter, they are powerful yet invisible information! Every atheist agrees these laws exist yet illogically deny the obvious reality of a logical and eternal Creator and Lawgiver. [see Psalm 14 verse 1]
