CHRISTMAS FORETOLD

“Do you want the good news or the bad news first?” said the garage mechanic to a nervous driver who had called to see if his car had passed its MOT. “The good news” replied the man. “Well sir, I’m delighted to tell you that your glove box and sun visors are in excellent condition!”

Much of the good news we hear about today is exaggerated and trivial but, “The Good Tidings of Great Joy” announced by an angel to a few Bethlehem shepherds, can never have headlines that are big enough to convey the infinite greatness and importance of this wonderful and amazing fact that the Creator of the universe humbled Himself and came as a human being in order to die a cruel death so that we might be forgiven! Such colossal news should leave us far more breathless than reading this long sentence!

The evidence for the truth of this global good news is overwhelming. Incredibly over 300 facts about the future birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ were spoken by many Hebrew prophets and written down on scrolls that are with us today. Here we find historical landmarks recorded before they happened! Such future details must have come from a source of intelligence “Who inhabits eternity” and is therefore outside of time! [ Isaiah 57:15 ]

The accuracy of these forecasts was later confirmed by the gospel writers and can be read in the New Testament. Over and over again these faithful witnesses who would rather die than tell a lie, tell us that such and such a thing happened “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet.” Here’s one example from verses in Psalm 22 which foretold the crucifixion centuries before Calvary. Verse 15 – Dehydration, v16 – Penetration, v18 – Humiliation, v22 – Resurrection and v31 – Completion. Why not search and see?
