OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE

Our brilliant British weather forecasters are doing very well if they can get it right 7 days ahead!  However, the ancient prophets of Israel could forecast events that would happen thousands of years into the future!  Sometime ago I was able to examine some of these prophetic writings when they were displayed in Manchester’s John Ryland’s Museum.  These parchments were all dated several hundred years before the birth of Christ yet they made over 300 forecasts about His birth, life, death and resurrection.  These holy men wrote down history before it happened!  Only God who lives in eternity, but who created time, could have given these scribes this type of information.

Here are some samples of these forecasts.  The first is in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15, the oldest book in the world because it goes back to creation!  In this verse we are told that the Son of a woman and not of a man would deal the ultimate death blow to Satan.  Over 3000 years later the prophet Isaiah confirmed this prophecy in these immortal words that thrill the hearts of millions every Christmas.  “A virgin will conceive and bare a son and shall call His name Immanuel, meaning, God with us.” [ Isaiah 7:14 ]  About 300 years later in 400BC, the prophet Micah forecast that this unique baby would be born in Bethlehem and that He would be God come in human flesh.

Jesus told us to search the Scriptures [ John 5:39 ] because although the prophets wrote about local events they also foretold something about Jesus.  Psalm 22 written about 1000BC by King David about himself is a good example of this.  It actually describes death by crucifixion which was then unknown.  Notice the details in these verses.  Verse 14, Dehydration and Dislocation of bones.  Verse 16, Penetration of hands and feet.  Verse 18, Gambling for His garments.  Verse 25-31, The Triumphant Resurrection..
