DOUBTS

A couple had just got into bed upstairs when the wife asked, "Did you switch the kitchen light off?"  "Yes Dear," he replied, but minutes later he said, "I'd better go down and make sure"!

This woman had unintentionally sown a doubt but this is one of Satan's intentional methods.  This is clearly seen in the Garden of Eden when God told Adam and Eve that they could freely eat from every tree in the garden, but if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would surely die.  With the cunning of a snake Satan came to Eve when she was alone and sowed a doubt by saying, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree?'"  These poisonous words carried within them a doubt about God's love and justice.  They entered like cruel barbs and Eve was soon on the hook!  In one breath she tried to defend God but in the next she cast doubt upon whether He would actually punish them by death.  She diluted God's explicit warning, "You will surely die" and substituted the pathetically ambiguous phrase, "In case you die." [ Genesis chapter 3 ]

From that day to this Satan has come with a Bible under his arm and doubts upon his tongue.  Sometimes he shoots his doubts like fiery darts through the lips of even a preacher, or as venom through the pen of a writer.  From every angle we are assailed with his insinuations about God's Holy Word.  He seldom says, "God does not exist," but he frequently casts doubt upon the reliability of His Word.

The Bible says, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." [ James ch 4 v 7 ].  So let's say emphatically, Heaven and Hell are real and Jesus is the only Saviour.  Let's doubt our doubts, believe God's Word and Satan will flee!
