PROGRAMMED!

Why do we say a washing machine goes through its washing cycles because it's been programmed, yet when we refer to the swallow's migration to South Africa we say it's by instinct?  Are we too proud to credit God with the ability to program His own creation?  Are we afraid to use a good scientific word like program in case someone dares to ask, "Who is the programmer?"  How dishonest to hide behind such a vague word as 'instinct' when the weight of evidence shouts to us that every living thing is programmed!

Take as an example the Monarch butterfly relay race from Mexico to Canada.  This incredible journey demands a comprehensive and fine tuned program that enables it to select the milkweed plant hundreds of miles along its journey, as the only suitable one upon which to lay its eggs.  The original butterfly lays its eggs then dies along the route but the program is brilliantly passed on through the caterpillar to the new butterfly which continues flying north according to the explicit instructions of the Programmer.  Eventually through the most astonishing phenomenon we call metamorphosis, the second butterfly virtually dies and rises from the dead in the shape of a new Monarch which still carries the implant of the original program and flies back to the same part of the Mexican forest from where its grandmother started!

In vivid verses the Bible says, "Since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." [ See Romans ch 1 especially v 20 ].

A prayer, Help me to be intellectually honest.  Open my eyes to see the impossibility of the infinite complexity of every living thing arising accidentally from inert matter when it has obviously come intentionally from the mind of the Creator.
