AMEN

The Hebrew word ‘Amen’ means ‘certainty’ or ‘so shall it be’!  Because it’s the last word in the Bible it confirms that the whole book is the Word of God and can therefore be believed with absolute certainty.

Over a century ago many clever but godless people prophesied that through science and technology, wars, disease and poverty would vanish!  How wrong they were!  But how right the Bible was when 2000 years ago it foretold that, “In the last days perilous times will come…”  The word perilous’ in the Greek means ‘dangerous’ and ‘stressful’.  Do read this prophecy in 2 Timothy 3:1-17 and you will find an accurate description of today’s world.  If the world is getting better then the Bible is wrong!

Because hundreds of Bible prophecies have come true, we can be certain that its other forecasts about God creating a new world, which will be the home of righteousness and not wickedness, will also come true.  The Apostle Peter describes the second coming of Jesus and the creation of a new earth, then he concludes his letter with the dynamic little word, Amen!.  [See 2 Peter 3 and the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 and Luke 21]

Handel’s great oratorio Messiah puts together in words and music the prophecies about the birth of Jesus then continues through His life, death, resurrection and ultimate triumph.  In 1742 when The Messiah was first performed, the choir sang, “He shall reign for ever and ever, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”  King George the Second humbly rose to his feet to worship Him!  Since then audiences worldwide have followed his example.

The Messiah concludes with Amen being sung over 100 times!  Only when Jesus returns to earth will wars, disease and poverty cease.  So shall it be!
