Thank GOD

As a boy was leaving home to go to a party, his Mum said, "Don't forget your pleases and thank yous." When he returned home, Mum said, "Well, did you remember to say please and thank you?" "O yes Mum I did, but when we were leaving, the boy in front of me said to the lady at the door "Thank You," but she said, "Don't mention it" so I didn't!"

Jesus once healed 10 lepers but only one came back to say 'Thank You' and he was a Samaritan. Jesus said, "Has only this foreigner returned to give glory to God?" [ Luke 17:11-18 ] This grateful man realised that only God could heal lepers, so by thanking Jesus he was thanking God. Sadly the attitude of many to God is, "Don't mention Him." But the truth is we owe all that we have and are to Him.

The Apostle Paul once asked these two pointed questions, "What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?" [ 1 Corinthians 4:7 ] We can take no credit for the gifts we are born with. A child may show an aptitude for mathematics or music and be called gifted but all gifts come from a giver. It is therefore very important that children are taught to thank God for the gifts He has given them. This will prevent pride and develop a gratitude towards God that will make them want to use their gifts in a way that pleases Him.

It's encouraging to hear of surgeons who pray for help and guidance before operating on each complex human body designed by God. When patients say, "Thank You," the surgeon may well say, "Don't mention it! Just thank God and live for His glory.
