TIME

Our greatest and most precious commodity is time. Although we don’t know how much we’ve got we often spend it carelessly. We waste it, kill it, lose it, forget it and pass it away even though we know we can never get it back again.

We can measure time but never store it up. Memory can look back over time but never bring it back. We cannot look forward to one minute of time with any certainty. We cannot see, touch, taste or smell time but bedtime tells us that another day has passed. Time is both a friend and an enemy, it allows us to live but causes us to grow old and die.

The eternal God is the source of time and is therefore not limited by it. Hundreds of accurately fulfilled prophesies in Scripture prove conclusively that He knows the end of time from the beginning. So here’s a prayer for daily use, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” [ Psalm 90 verse 12 ] We get knowledge from college but wisdom from God! A wise person recognises that because time is a gift from God he must pray for guidance every day to find out how God wants Him to use it. Although we may go about doing good, good without God spells nothing! Jesus confirmed this when He said, “Without me you can do nothing.” [ John 15:5 ] We can only lay up treasures in heaven beyond the ravages of time when we do His will and not our own. [ Matthew 6:20 ]

I have only just a minute, only 60 seconds in it,
Forced upon me, can’t refuse it,
Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it,
But it’s up to me to use it,
Give account if I abuse it,
Help me use each tiny minute, so eternity is in it.
